Q1. What is the EZ-Link Season Pass?

A1. The EZ-Link Season Pass is a monthly or weekly Season Pass designed for Singapore Residents who travel extensively on public transport in Singapore. It is an extension of the new generation ez-link card which is CEPAS compliant and modelled after the popular Singapore Tourist Pass with the following added enhancements:

  • Offers longer duration of fixed fares options (weekly or monthly)
  • Priced lower than The Singapore Tourist Pass
  • Personalisation with photo ID
  • Built in insurance for first time loss on valid pass
  • Bundled with exclusive Merchant Benefits

Q2. Who is eligible to purchase the EZ-Link Season Pass? Who will benefit the most?

A2. Any Singapore Resident can purchase the EZ-Link Season Pass. It is targeted for the following groups:

  • Frequent commuters who value convenience and ease of travel
  • Commuters who want a monthly or weekly Season Pass to minimise the need to top up their card frequently
  • Commuters who want to manage their finances by paying a fixed amount every week/month for public transportation fares
  • Companies who wish to provide a fixed weekly or monthly public transportation allowance for their staff

Q3. What are the benefits / advantages?

A3. The EZ-Link Season Pass has the following key benefits / advantages:

  • Unlimited travel on Basic bus services, MRT & LRT trains for the Enhanced version, or unlimited Basic bus services and up to 4 daily MRT or LRT train rides for the Basic version. This gives the commuter a peace of mind as they do not have to worry about the hassle of topping up as often as they had to previously. The Season Pass allows them to commute the same way students do with their concession pass.
  • Flexibility in choosing the fastest route regardless of the number of times they may have to change (either bus or rail services) – Commuters can get to their destination faster if they have the flexibility of taking different buses or trains to their destination without worrying about incurring extra fares.

Q4. How do I get the Season Pass?

A4. Before you buy the pass, you have to apply for a personalised adult ez-link card for $11; which comprises of $3 initial top up value, $5 for the cost of the card and $3 for photo personalisation.

You can then purchase the various types of Season Passes at any TransitLink Ticket Office (by cash) or Add Value Machines (by local Bank ATM Card).

Q5. Why do I have to purchase a specially printed card even though I already have my new ez-link card which is CEPAS enabled?

A5. The EZ-Link Season Pass can only be purchased and encoded on the EZ-Link Season Pass card. In addition, the personalised card will allow EZ-Link to identity the rightful owner of the pass.

Q6. Why would I need to pay an additional $3 top-up value when I am purchasing an EZ-Link Season Pass card?

A6. This is a business requirement by EZ-Link to ensure that EZ-Link Season Pass holders tap in and out when taking bus and rail services, a similar practice to using a normal ez-link card.

In the event when EZ-Link Season Pass holders do not tap out upon exit, the $3 is to enable the deduction of the administrative fee. (Refer to Q14 & 15 for the usage of the Season Pass on Bus and Rail Services)

Q7. Where do I go to purchase the specially printed EZ-Link Season Pass card?

A7. You may apply for the new EZ-Link Season Pass card by filling up the application form downloadable at EZ-Link’s website at www.ezlink.com.sg/season-pass or pick up an application form at any TransitLink Ticket Office.

Please ensure that you submit your application form with a valid photograph and required particulars to EZ-Link or at any TransitLink Ticket Office. You will also need to submit an application fee of $11 by cheque or cash along with the application form.

Q8. How long will it take before I receive my specially printed EZ-Link Season Pass card?

A8. Your application will take approximately 21 working days to process. EZ-Link will notify you thereafter for the collection of your EZ-Link Season Pass card at your preferred Card Collection Point indicated on your application form.

Q9. Will it be mailed to me or do I have to pick it up from somewhere?

A9. You will be notified by EZ-Link once your EZ-Link Season Pass card is ready for collection at the preferred Card Collection Point indicated on your application form. This will take up to 21 working days from the time EZ-Link receives your application form. You will need to produce proof of identification upon collection of your personalised card. You can purchase your first Season Pass (Enhanced or Basic) upon collection of your card.

Q10. How much does the EZ-Link Season Pass cost? When is the promotion period?

A10. The prices for the Enhanced and Basic Monthly / Weekly Season Pass are listed in the table below:

*Rail: MRT and LRT *Bus: Basic Bus Services only. It does not include Express, Fast Forward, Nite Owl, Night Rider, CityShopper, Parks, Chinatown Direct, Stadium Direct, SMRT Link and any other premium services.

The Season Pass can be purchased up to 7 days in advance of the intended start date, and the next Season Pass can be purchased up to 7 days in advance before the expiry of the previous Season Pass. You may indicate the intended start date of your Season Pass during your purchase at the Ticket Offices or Add Value Machines.

Q11. If I have a concession pass (students, senior citizens, etc), can I still buy the Season Pass?

A11. No, the Season Pass feature can only be purchased and encoded only on an EZ-Link Season Pass card.

Q12. How do I use my Season Pass on Basic Bus Services?

A12. The Season Pass is automatically activated on the selected start date of the pass.

To use your Season Pass for Basic Bus Services (including Feeder Bus services), you must tap your EZ-Link Season Pass card upon entry on the reader installed on the bus and tap your EZ-Link Season Pass card upon exit.

If you do not tap your EZ-Link Season Pass card upon exit, you will be charged an administrative fee equivalent to the adult fare from the stage of boarding to the last stage of the bus trip, and the administrative fee will be automatically deducted from the stored value of your personalised card. You are advised to maintain a minimum of $3 stored value on your personalised card even with a valid Season Pass to avoid any inconvenience. If an administrative fee was wrongfully deducted due to no fault of yours, you may apply to EZ-Link to waive and refund the administrative fee.

Please remember to tap out your Season Pass card when the bus readers are at “ENTRY/EXIT” mode on the Entrance Reader (if you are alighting from the front door); or “EXIT” mode on the Exit Reader. Tapping out on the reader at “ENTRY” mode will cause a double deduction on the card.

Note: However if your Season Pass expires, you will need to maintain a minimum stored value of an amount no less than the full adult fare applicable from the stage of boarding to the last stage of the bus trip, in order to commence a bus trip as a normal ez-link adult card.

Q13. How do I use my Season Pass on Rail Services?

A13. The Season Pass is automatically activated on the selected start date of the pass. To use your Season Pass for rail services, you are advised to tap in and tap out at the rail fare gates to avoid any inconvenience.

Note: However if your Season Pass expires, you will need to maintain a minimum stored value of $3 on your personalised card in order to commence a rail trip as a normal ez-link adult card.

Q14. Is the card only limited to travel? Can it be used for other purposes?

A14. No, it’s not limited to travel, as it is a multi-purpose card based on the same CEPAS compliant ez-link card platform. It can also be used for payment in retail shops that accepts new CEPAS compliant ez-link cards. For retail purchases, you will need to have sufficient value in the ez-link purse.

Note: The weekly or monthly Season Pass is only valid for use on rail and Basic bus services (refer to Q10). You will need to have sufficient value in the ez-link purse for any retail payments.

Q15. Where will the Season Pass be sold?

A15. You can purchase various types of Season Passes at any Ticketing Offices (by cash) or Add Value Machines (by local Bank ATM).

The Season Pass can be purchased up to 7 days in advance of the intended start date, and the next Season Pass can be purchased up to 7 days in advance before the expiry of the previous Season Pass. You may indicate the intended start date of your Season Pass during your purchase at the Ticket Offices or Add Value Machines.

Q16. How long is the validity of this personalised card?

A16. Like any other ez-link card, it is valid for 5 years from the date of first encoding of the personalised card. You may check the validity of your personalised card at any General Ticketing Machines (GTM) or Add Value Machines (AVM) located at any MRT stations.

Q17. What if I have a valid Season Pass but there is a deduction when I tap out on the readers upon exit?

A17. If you have a valid Season Pass and there is a deduction from your personalised card even though you have tapped in and tapped out on the readers, please proceed to a TransitLink Ticket Office to have your card checked and verify that the Season Pass is still valid.

Q18. What should I do if my card is defective?

A18. If your personalised card is corrupted due to no fault of yours, you may obtain a free replacement card by surrendering your corrupted personalised card at any TransitLink Ticket Office. You will receive a refund of partially used or unexpired portion of your Season Pass, which shall be pro-rated based on the date the refund was made. You will also receive a refund of the remaining stored value (if any) on the personalised card. The amount will be refunded to you via cheque after 21 working days. EZ-Link will contact you regarding your replacement card collection. You will be given a temporary adult ez-link card in the meantime until your replacement EZ-Link Season Pass card is ready.

Note: You will need to top up this temporary adult ez-link card which does not have any Season Pass encoded on the card.

Q19. How will I get my replacement for the corrupted EZ-Link Season Pass card?

A19. You may obtain a free replacement of the corrupted EZ-Link Season Pass card if it is still within the 5 years validity period of the card. EZ-Link will notify you for the collection of your replacement card at a preferred Card Collection Point after 14 working days. However, please note that you will need to perform a first top up on your newly replaced personalised card upon collection.

Note: You will need to return the temporary adult ez-link card and any remaining value of that card will be refunded to you.

Q20. Are there any merchant promotions?

A20. Yes, EZ-Link has partnered with Visa to provide merchant promotions. Simply show your EZ-Link Season Pass card at participating merchant outlets to enjoy the promotions and pay by Visa or cash. Please refer to the updated list on our website, www.ezlink.com.sg/season-pass, for the updated list of merchant promotions.

Q21. Can I use my Season Pass on other bus services such as CityShopper or Chinatown Direct?

A21. No, it only applies to Basic bus services. The following services are excluded as they are deemed premium services: Express, Fast Forward, Nite Owl, Night Rider, CityShopper, Parks, Chinatown Direct, Stadium Direct and SMRT Link.

Q22. If my Season Pass is valid until 31 January 2010, can I take the bus or MRT past midnight on 1 February 2010?

A22. Yes. The expiry refers to the operational day. For example, if your Season Pass expiry is on 31 January 2010, you may use a valid Weekly or Monthly Season Pass past midnight on a bus or train service as the operational day for that service is counted as 31 January 2010.

Q23. Is the EZ-Link Season Pass card transferable?

A23. No, it is a personalised card that is not transferable. Anyone found using an EZ-Link Season Pass card that does not belong to him / her is deemed to have infringed the terms of use and EZ-Link reserves the right to commence legal proceedings against the card holder and the person misusing the card.

Q24. What happens if my Season Pass expires?

A24. You can opt to:

  1. Purchase another Season Pass and continue to enjoy the convenience of ease of travel, with the added merchant benefits and insurance coverage or,
  2. Use the personalised card like a normal ez-link adult card. However, do note that you are still required to maintain on your personalised card (without a valid Season Pass) a minimum stored value of:
    • $3.00, in order to commence a rail trip; or
    • An amount no less than the full adult fare applicable from the stage of boarding to the last stage of the bus trip.
