Q1. What is EZ-Pay?

EZ-Pay is a post-paid card-less payment service provided by EZ-Link for motorists for their Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) and carpark* charges.

Q2: How can I register for EZ-Pay and how long will the registration take?

To register for an EZ-Pay account, follow the 3 steps listed below.

  1. Register for an EZ-Pay account here.
  2. You will receive an SMS within 1 working day and you will need to reply to confirm on your vehicle IU number.
  3. Upon your SMS confirmation, an email with the effective start date of EZ-Pay for your vehicle will be sent to you within the next 4 days.

Subject to user confirmation on the IU number, the application process will take approximately 5 working days before the vehicle is successfully equipped with EZ-Pay.

Please continue to use your Stored Value Card for ERP charges prior to the effective start date.

Q3: What are the benefits of EZ-Pay?

By signing up for EZ-Pay, ERP gantry charges will be charged to your credit or debit card and you will never have to worry about having a card with insufficient value in the in-vehicle unit (IU) when they go pass ERP gantries.

The sign-up process is simple and there is no service charge or monthly fees.

Q4: What happens if I have my Stored Value Card inside the IU when I pass through an ERP gantry even though I have an EZ-Pay account?

If your Stored Value Card is in the IU when passing through a gantry, the ERP charges will be deducted from the Stored Value Card. However, should there be no card or insufficient value detected in your card, the full ERP amount will then be charged to your EZ-Pay account.

Q5: Can I use EZ-Pay for car parks?

This service is currently available for ERP payments only the acceptance of EZ-Pay for carparks will be made available soon.

Q6: Who can register for EZ-Pay service?

Motorists who own a Singapore registered vehicle fitted with either the 1st or 2nd Generation IU can apply for EZ-Pay. Vehicle owners will need to register with their NRIC/FIN number, vehicle number and credit or debit card number.

Q7: Is EZ-Pay registration also applicable for company-registered vehicles?

No. EZ-Pay registration is currently not applicable for company-registered vehicles.

Registration

Q8: Which credit/debit cards can I use for the registration of EZ-Pay?

Currently, you can register for EZ-Pay with any VISA/MasterCard Credit Card issued by Citibank Singapore Limited (“Citibank”) or VISA/MasterCard Credit or Debit Card issued by DBS Bank Singapore (“DBS”).

Q9: Can I use a credit/debit card that is not issued by Citibank/DBS/POSB for registration?

We are currently only able to accept Citi credit card and DBS/POSB Credit or Debit Cards for EZ-Pay sign-ups.

Q10: Is there a monthly subscription fee for EZ-Pay?

EZ-Pay is absolutely free. There is no subscription fee or service fee for EZ-Pay. You will only be required to pay for the ERP or carpark* charges that you have incurred.

Q11: Why is there a $0.10 fee charged to my credit/debit card when I register for EZ-Pay?

A pre-authorisation of $0.10 is made to your credit/debit card to authenticate on the validity and cardholder’s identity during the point of registration on the website. It does not reflect that an actual charge has been made to your credit or debit card. The amount will be released back to your account after the holding period determined by the issuing bank of the credit/debit card.

Q12: Why is there a pre-authorisation of $50 on my credit/debit card?

Pre-authorisation is set at $50 per vehicle and only sets aside part of your card’s credit limit for charges via EZ-Pay. It does not reflect that an actual charge has been made to your credit/debit card. This earmarking allows your EZ-Pay charges to be processed when they are incurred. The actual charge will only be made when there are ERP or carpark* transactions incurred by your registered vehicle, however this is subjected to change. Any unutilised pre-authorisation amount will be released back to your account after the holding period determined by the issuing bank of the credit/debit card.

You may receive a Credit/Debit Card Transaction Alert from your issuing bank on the $50 pre-authorisation, if you have changed the default threshold amount to a lower threshold amount for the Credit/Debit Card Transaction Alert to be triggered.

Q13: What happens if I use up the pre-authorisation amount of $50 for my ERP charges?

Upon the utilization of 50% of the pre-authorised amount, an additional earmark of $50 will be made to ensure that you can continue using EZ-Pay for your ERP or carpark* charges.

Q14: Is there a limit to the ERP charges that I can charge to my EZ-Pay account?

There is no limit set. However, to avoid disruption when using EZ-Pay, kindly ensure that your credit card has sufficient credit limit. For debit card, ensure that your bank account has sufficient fund for the charge.

Q15: There was an SMS sent to me to validate my vehicle IU number. Am I required to respond?

You will receive an SMS within 1 working day from your EZ-Pay application to confirm your vehicle IU number. You will be required to respond to the SMS accordingly to proceed with the registration. Otherwise, your EZ-Pay application will be rejected.

Q16: How long does it take for my EZ-Pay account to be activated upon registration?

Upon the confirmation of your IU number via SMS, you will receive an email notification within the next 4 days to advise you on the effective start date of your EZ-Pay service.

Please remember that you should only remove your Stored Value Card from your IU after the effective start date of the EZ-Pay service for your vehicle.

Q17: How many vehicles can I register on my EZ-Pay account?

You can register up to 3 vehicles under each credit/debit card in your EZ-Pay account.

Q18: Can I use my credit/debit card to register for EZ-Pay on a vehicle that is not registered under my name?

Yes, you can apply for EZ-Pay for a vehicle that is not registered under your name but you will remain liable for all charges incurred until you remove the vehicle from the EZ-Pay service.

Using EZ-Pay

Q19: I have successfully registered for EZ-Pay. However, my IU gives off a beeping sound when I pass through an ERP gantry. My Stored Value Card is not inserted into the IU. Why is this so?

Upon successful application of EZ-Pay, it is normal for the IU to give off a beeping sound when passing through the ERP gantry when the Stored Value Card is not inserted into the IU. The ERP charges will be charged to your credit/debit card registered with EZ-Pay.

Termination

Q20: Under what circumstances, will my EZ-Pay account be terminated?

Your EZ-Pay account will be terminated immediately if your credit/debit card is terminated or when there is failure on the authorisation or pre-authorisation of your card.

You will be notified by SMS and email once the service is terminated.

Should you wish to re-apply for EZ-Pay service, you may do so after 4 working days

Q21: What should I do if I lose my credit/debit card or if my card is cancelled or terminated?

Please terminate your EZ-Pay account via the EZ-Pay website and re-insert your Stored Value Card with sufficient amount into your IU upon submitting your request for termination.

Should you wish to re-apply for EZ-Pay service, you may do so after 4 working days

Q22: What should I do when I receive my replacement card?

Please visit the EZ-Pay website to re-apply for an EZ-Pay account with your new card.

Q23: If my vehicle is under another ERP payment scheme, can I apply for EZ-Pay?

You will need to terminate the other scheme that your vehicle is currently registered under to successfully apply for EZ-Pay.

Q24: What will happen if my credit/debit card is blocked by my issuing bank?

Your EZ-Pay account will be automatically terminated and you will receive an SMS and email notice.

You should also re-insert your Stored Value Card with sufficient amount into your IU.

You may re-apply for EZ-Pay after 4 working days.

Charges and Credit or Debit Card Issues

Q25: Will I have to pay for EZ-Pay?

There is no service fee involved for EZ-Pay. You will only be required to pay for the ERP or carpark* charges that your vehicle has incurred for the month.

Q26: What happens if I want to change my credit/debit card?

Please log on to your EZ-Pay account to terminate your EZ-Pay account. You will need to re-apply for EZ-Pay again with your new credit/debit card thereafter.

Please note that upon receiving SMS and email notice, you may re-apply for EZ-Pay service after 4 working days

Q27: What should I do if my credit or debit card is expiring?

You should receive a new credit or debit card with a new expiry date from your issuing bank. If there is a change in the card number, please terminate your EZ-Pay account. Please refer to Termination of Service for more information.

Upon receiving your new credit/debit card, please log on to your EZ-Pay account to update your credit/debit card details.

Q28: How will the EZ-Pay charges be reflected in my bank card statement?

Your EZ-Pay charges will be reflected in your card statement as follows,

Alternatively, you may log onto your EZ-Pay account to view the details of your EZ-Pay transactions.

Q29: When will my ERP charges be reflected under my credit/debit card?

The ERP charges will be reflected in your monthly bank card statement according to the bank’s billing cycle.

Checking of Information

Q30: Where can I check for the details of my ERP charges?

You can log on to your EZ-Pay account with your NRIC and password to check your detailed charges. Charges will usually reflected on your EZ-Pay account the next day.

Q31: Is there a limit to the period of my transaction history that I can view from my EZ-Pay account?

You can view your EZ-Pay transaction history for the past six months.

Termination of Service

Q32: What happens if I would like to sell my vehicle?

Please terminate your EZ-Pay account in advance via the EZ-Pay website, and allow up to four working days for the termination to take effect.

Q33: How can I terminate my EZ-Pay account?

You can log in to your EZ-Pay account to terminate your account. Please allow up to four working days for the termination to take effect.

Please remember to re-insert your Stored Value Card with sufficient amount into your IU upon submitting your request for termination.

Q34: Can I proceed to register for a new EZ-Pay account while waiting for the confirmation email of my current termination?

Upon termination of your EZ-Pay account, please allow up to four working days for the termination to take effect before re-applying for a new account.

Amendments to vehicle car plate number or IU Number

Q35: What happens if I change my IU or vehicle number?

You may log in to the EZ-Pay website to update your particulars. Alternatively, you will also receive an email notification from EZ-Link to update your vehicle information within 7 working days.

Note: Your EZ-Pay service will not be disrupted.

If there is a change in both IU and vehicle number or a transfer of ownership, please terminate and re-apply for EZ-Pay service.

Others

Q36: If my IU is faulty, would my transaction(s) still go through?

The transaction(s) will be valid and you should receive a notification letter from LTA for an IU inspection.

Q37: Will I still earn rewards points with my registered credit or debit card?
