(A) About the Garmin vivosmart HR with EZ-Link

1. What is this?

The Garmin Vivosmart HR with EZ-Link is a fitness tracker with EZ-Link functionalities in the form of a smart band.

2. How many designs are there?

The Garmin Vivosmart HR with EZ-Link comes in 3 colours – Black, Blue and Purple.

3. What are its functions?

Just like an ez-link card, it can be used for ez-link payments at all EZ-Link accepted payment merchants. The fitness tracker’s functions include 24/7 steps, sleep and fitness activity tracking, heart-rate monitor, WhatsApp and Facebook notifications.

4. How do I use this?

Simply tap your Fitness Tracker with the EZ-Link module like you would with a normal ez-link card to make payments.

5. What is the EZ-Link module how do I find the EZ-Link CAN ID on this device?

You can find the EZ-Link CAN ID at the back of the wrist band, via EZ-Link top-up points and by pressing the device key to view the menu and selecting “i”.

6. Where can I purchase this?

The Garmin vivosmart HR with EZ-Link will be available at Best Denki, Challenger, Courts, Gain City, Harvey Norman and authorised retailers at $259 from 4th March 2017 progressively.

(B) Getting Started

1. How do I set-up the device?

When using your device for the first time, you should complete these tasks to set up the device and learn about the basic features.
1. Charge the device (Charging the Device).
2. Select an option to complete the setup process with your Garmin Connect™ account:

  • Set up the device on your compatible smartphone (Pairing Your Smartphone)
  • Set up the device on your computer (Setting Up the Device On Your Computer).

NOTE: Until you complete the setup process, the device has limited functionality.
3. Synchronize your data with your Garmin Connect account (Synchronizing Your Data with the Garmin Connect™ Mobile App) (Synchronizing Your Data with Your Computer).

2. How do I connect the device to my phone?

To use the connected features of the vívosmart® HR with ez-link device, it must be paired directly through the Garmin Connect™ Mobile app, instead of from the Bluetooth® settings on your smartphone.

    1. From the app store on your smartphone, install and open the Garmin Connect Mobile app.
    2. Hold the device key to turn on the device.
      The first time you turn on the device, you will select the device language. The next screen prompts you to pair with your smartphone.
      TIP: You can press the device key to view the menu, and select Bluetooth button > Pair Smartphone to manually enter pairing mode.
    3. Select an option to add your device to your Garmin Connect account:

If this is the first device you have paired with the Garmin Connect Mobile app, follow the on-screen instructions.

If you have already paired another device with the Garmin Connect Mobile app, from the settings menu, select Garmin Devices > Add Device, and follow on-screen instructions.

After you pair successfully, a message appears, and your device syncs automatically with your smartphone.

3. Why can’t I find my device through the app?

If you want to pairing vivosmart HR with ez-link with Garmin Connect Mobile app, you can search vivosmart HR to make the connection with your smartphone.

For iOS user:

  1. Ensure that Bluetooth is enabled on the iOS device (see iOS device manual for details)
  2. Place the iOS device within 10 ft. (3 m) of the watch
  3. On the iOS device, open the Garmin Connect Mobile app
  4. Touch the More icon located in the lower right corner
  5. Touch Garmin Devices
  6. Touch Add Device
  7. Touch All Devices
  8. Touch vivosmart HR
  9. Enter each field of required Personal Information
  10. Touch Next
  11. Press device button
  12. Swipe through settings until the Bluetooth symbol is visible
  13. Touch Bluetooth symbol
  14. Swipe through menu until Pair Smartphone is visible

The vivosmart HR with ez-link is successfully paired with the Garmin Connect Mobile app.

4. Will my device automatically connect with my phone after the initial pairing?

Yes, vivosmart HR with ez-link will automatically connect with your smartphone after a successful connection at the first time.

5. How do I charge my device and how long does it take to achieve a full charge?

  1. Plug the USB cable into a USB port on your computer.
  2. Align the charger posts with the contacts on the back of the device, and press the charger① glyph icon until it clicks.
  3. Charge the device completely.

The rechargeable battery in vivosmart HR with ez-link can last up to 5 days on a single charge. Various factors including backlight, frequency of smart notifications, and wrist-based heart rate monitoring can shorten battery life in between charges.

The vivosmart HR with ez-link also has the ability to broadcast heart rate data to compatible devices. The vivosmart HR with ez-link has a maximum of 24 hours of battery life while in broadcast mode.

You can charge the vivosmart HR with ez-link using either a USB port on your computer or an AC adapter* plugged into a wall outlet. It can take up to 2 hours to receive a full charge.

*If charging the vivosmart HR with ez-link with an AC adapter, it is recommended using an AC adapter manufactured by Garmin.

1. How do I use it for EZ-Link payments?

Before the first use, please ensure that your device is fully charged. You may then proceed to top-up the EZ-Link purse for EZ-Link payments.

4. Why is the reader not recognizing my Garmin Vivosmart HR with ez-link as an ez-link card?

For optimal performance, users should tap the device close to the reader.

5. Is there an expiry date for this device?

The device is valid for 3 years. You can check the expiry date of your device via the ‘My EZ-Link Mobile’ app or at General Ticketing Machines.

6. What if the device is faulty or not usable?

We have rigorously tested each device. However, if your Garmin Vivosmart HR with ez-link is found to be defective with the following symptoms:

  1. Screen stuck on Garmin logo
  2. Incorrect time displayed without changing
  3. Menu option frozen on the screen
  4. Device will not respond to user input

The troubleshooting to remove your device from this state will be the same for all Garmin devices. Press and hold your power button until the display goes blank. You will then need to power the device on normally.

If the device fails to respond to user input and appears to be powered off, try applying external power to the device, press and hold the power button for about 10 seconds which should allow the device to power on.

Note: Performing a hard reset with the steps above has the potential to erase some information such as daily steps or heart rate data.

This process will erase user settings on the vivosmart HR with ez-link and the device will have to be setup as if it were new.

7. How do I take care of my device?

Please note the following:

  • Avoid extreme shock and harsh treatment
  • Avoid pressing the keys under water
  • Do not use a sharp object to clean the device
  • Never use a hard or sharp object to operate the touchscreen, or damage may result
  • Avoid chemical cleaners, solvents, and insect repellents that can damage plastic components and finishes
  • Thoroughly rinse the device with fresh water after exposure to chlorine, salt water, sunscreen, cosmetics, alcohol, or other harsh chemicals. Prolonged exposure to these substances can damage the case
  • Do not store the device where prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures can occur
  • Do not remove the bands
