For more than a decade, EZ-Link has been serving millions of commuters in Singapore every day. Beyond occupying a slot in each of their wallets, the ez-link card has become an indispensable part of their lives.
Since 2002, EZ-Link has played an instrumental role in familiarizing local residents and tourists alike with the contactless prepaid card concept, and propelling Singapore towards being a cashless society. EZ-Link gave an important push to the national vision of promoting cashless payments in December 2008, by becoming the first to start sales of ez-link cards compliant with the Singapore Standard for Contactless ePurse Application (CEPAS).
To date, EZ-Link has issued more than 17 million CEPAS-compliant ez-link cards, and extended its acceptance beyond transit to more than 30,000 points across the island, including retail shops, food & beverage outlets, private transport, government services and community services; as well as for Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) when used in the new generation In-vehicle Unit (2GIU) and at car parks fitted with the Electronic Payment System (EPS).
EZ-Link has also helped businesses in Singapore enjoy the benefits of cashless transactions by adopting ez-link as a payment option. Many merchants, from retail malls to solo stores, have tapped on the ez-link card payment system to provide quicker customer service, lower costs related to handling cash and most importantly, move towards a cashless society.
In tandem with the growth of ez-link acceptance points, EZ-Link has also increased the number of ez-link card top-up options for customers’ convenience. Aside from making available topping up at MRT stations and bus interchanges, convenience stores, ATMs, AXS Stations, automatic top-ups with EZ-Reload and online top-ups with EZ-Online, EZ-Link launched the world’s first Near Field Communication (NFC) mobile application to top up physical stored value cards, called “My EZ-Link Mobile” in December 2013. With the mobile app and NFC-enabled phones, you can top up your ez-link card on your mobile device, whenever and wherever you are!
EZ-Link is also bringing the prowess of the ez-link card to the world by collaborating with our foreign counterparts. Our vision is to enable visitors from Singapore and another city to commute on each other’s public transportation networks with just one card. In the first collaboration, EZ-Link worked together with Guangdong Lingnan Pass Company Limited to develop the world’s first dual currency transit card, known as the SINO Visitor Pass, for use in Singapore and Guangdong’s transport network. In June 2014, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with EasyCard Corporation was signed to jointly develop another cross border transit card to facilitate tourism and business travelling between Singapore and Taiwan.

We hope those of you with ez-link cards expiring in 2014 have gotten your hands on the ‘Colour Your Journey’ ez-link cards that we have been giving away for free since 4 July 2014, as part of the Journey with EZ-Link campaign.
